Legal Aid Help Request

Legal Aid Ontario Certificates Accepted Here

Serving Southern Ontario including, Barrie, Orillia and Alliston.  AGS LAW accepts legal aid certificates as payment for our services. That means, if you’re in a custody dispute with a former spouse or you need other legal aid services, we can help you.

We are dedicated to providing affordable legal services to all income levels.

If you are in need of legal assistance and have difficulty covering the cost of services, Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) may be able to help you. LAO issues legal aid certificates to those who need a lawyer and are financially and legally eligible. The certificate is like a voucher for legal services that you can use to pay for a lawyer to represent you for a certain number of hours. To qualify for a legal aid certificate through LAO, your legal matter must meet LAO criteria and you must be financially eligible. We accept various types of legal aid certificates, including:

  • Family Law– Regarding relationships and legal rights within families, family law includes divorce, separation, child custody and more. If you have a family law issue and meet the LAO requirements, your family law certificate will afford you legal services such as summary legal advice and more.
  • Child Protection – If a child protection agency is taking steps to remove your child from your home, this certificate will help you afford a lawyer who can help you address legal issues such as participating in settlement negotiations and more.
  • Separation Agreement – If you and your spouse are having problems, a separation agreement is a way to protect your rights. LAO certificates cover the cost of up to 10 hours with a family lawyer to draw up a separation agreement, prepare sworn financials statements and more.
  • Independent Legal Advice (ILA) – This certificate covers advice from a family panel lawyer. ILA allows you to get support from a lawyer before, during and after entering a legal agreement based on mediation. You can get help with the mediation process, obtain a court order and receive other legal aid services.

If your income qualifies for a legal aid certificate through Legal Aid Ontario, you will get legal assistance, advice and courtroom support from AGSLAW. We do not guarantee if you will qualify or be issued a legal aid certificate.
